Meet the Directors

Jamie

My journey has been shaped by resilience, ambition, and the unwavering support of my family. Growing up in Moorebank, Sydney, I had incredible mentors—my dad, mum, and brothers—who taught me the values of hard work and perseverance. My dad owned a stonemasonry business, and later, my brothers started their own stonemasonry companies. Watching them inspired me, but I wanted to make something of my own, in my own way.

For much of my childhood and teenage years, my dream was to make it to the NRL. I played rugby league and oztag from the age of 5, but at 15, a knee injury during state oztag ended that dream. It was a tough moment, but it shifted my focus towards academics, where I realised I could build a different kind of future.

  • When I turned 16, I began working with my dad in his stonemasonry factory after school. It taught me the value of money, how to deal with people, and how to quote and estimate jobs. By 19, I decided it was time to step out of the family business and explore new opportunities in construction.

In 2018, I started working with a carpentry-based business in Banksmeadow, Sydney. I was a cadet, later becoming a junior project manager, gaining hands-on experience with high-rise buildings and luxury apartments. This was a pivotal year that solidified my desire to pursue a career in the construction industry.

In 2019, I transitioned to a Contracts Administration role for a building company based in North Sydney. Working on shop fitouts and commercial projects such as Woolworths, with sites stretching as far as Newcastle, I learnt to manage complex projects and fine-tuned my skills in the field.

Balancing full-time work with university wasn’t easy, but it was rewarding. In 2020, at the age of 23, I earned my Bachelor’s in Construction Management from Western Sydney University. This achievement was a testament to my determination and my belief in creating opportunities through hard work.

By 2021, I found myself craving a change of scenery and decided to move to Brisbane to help with my dad’s stone supply business. It was a chance to reset. Moving to a new city where I knew no one was challenging, but it pushed me to simplify my life, focusing on work, fitness, and personal growth.

However, I began to miss the construction industry and the satisfaction of creating something tangible. In February 2022, I took a leap of faith and started JAYMA Projects. Starting small with odd jobs and handyman work, I was determined to build something meaningful and long-lasting.

By late 2023, I realised it was time to expand and brought my best mate from Sydney on board. I encouraged him to take the same leap I had, move to Brisbane, and join me as a partner in the building game. Having him as both a business partner and lifelong friend has been one of the most rewarding decisions of this journey.

Today, I’m proud of what we’ve achieved. JAYMA Projects has grown into a company that transforms bathrooms and redefines spaces across Brisbane. Every project reflects my passion for replacing the old with the extraordinary.

Looking back, my journey hasn’t been without challenges. But from working in my dad’s factory to leading projects and starting my own company, every step has shaped the person I am today. It’s not just about the milestones—it’s about the courage to keep moving forward, even when the path isn’t clear.

Brady

I grew up in Edensor Park, a suburb in Sydney where I was immersed in sports from an early age. Rugby league, AFL, and various other sports shaped my childhood, teaching me discipline, teamwork, and resilience. My skills in AFL grew, and I even had the opportunity to play for the Greater Western Sydney Giants academy team, a milestone that fueled my competitive spirit. However, my dreams of playing professional AFL were unfortunately cut short after a serious knee injury. This setback forced me to reassess my future, and I turned my focus to academics. While it was a tough transition, it taught me resilience in the face of adversity and helped me channel my energy into leadership roles, eventually becoming sports captain and prefect in Years 11 and 12. These positions allowed me to hone my organizational and leadership skills, which would later play a significant role in my professional life.

  • Straight out of high school, I headed to university to study Physiotherapy. However, after a year, I realized that university life wasn’t for me. I felt a strong pull toward the world of construction, an industry that had always intrigued me and where my passion truly lay. I made the bold decision to leave university and embark on a new path that would shape my future.

At 18, I began my electrical apprenticeship, diving into the world of hands-on work, learning the ropes, and refining my technical skills. It didn’t take long for me to realize that construction, specifically electrical work, was my true calling. Over the next four years, I completed my apprenticeship and became a fully qualified electrician, developing a deep understanding of both the technical aspects and the importance of hard work and precision.

Having honed my technical skills, I quickly rose through the ranks. Just one year after completing my apprenticeship, I became a leading hand, managing a small team of tradesmen and apprentices on large commercial builds. This was where I started to develop my leadership abilities—guiding teams, problem-solving, and ensuring projects ran smoothly.

After two years as a leading hand, I was promoted to foreman, where I oversaw a team of 10 electricians on significant commercial projects, including the Wollondilly Performing Arts Centre and the PCYC facility upgrade. These projects pushed me to grow as a leader and a project manager, constantly balancing the needs of the client, the team, and the project timeline. A short time later, I transitioned into a project manager role, continuing to manage large-scale construction projects. This experience was invaluable and solidified my ability to manage projects from start to finish.

Despite my success in the electrical field, a burning desire to move into building and renovations never left me. My time working as a project manager gave me a glimpse into the larger picture of construction, and I realized that I wanted to work on projects that involved a deeper level of creativity and vision. I also started a small side business as an electrician, which gave me the opportunity to experience running a business and working independently. This taste of entrepreneurship lit a fire in me, and I knew that, one day, I would have my own company.

Eventually, I took the leap and left the electrical industry to pursue my passion for building and renovations. I began working with a small residential company, focusing on renovations and new builds. It was a step in the right direction, but I soon knew that something bigger was calling me. My dream of owning my own business was closer than ever.

The pivotal moment came when my best friend and now business partner, Jamie Prasad, approached me with an exciting opportunity. He proposed that we combine our skills and knowledge to create one of the most reliable and trusted renovation companies in Brisbane. The prospect of joining forces with Jamie was too good to pass up. Together, we made the bold decision to leave Sydney behind and move to Queensland, combining our expertise and passion for construction under the banner of JAYMA Projects.
